Namchi, 20 February: The International Women’s Day with the theme ” RE- INVENTING MOTHERHOOD CONNECTING MOTHERS BACK TO THEIR CHILDHOOD HOBBIES and INTERESTS ” was observed at BAC, Temi.
The event was witnessed by Ho’ble Zillas, Panchayat President, Panchayat Members, SHO madam and local gentries.
The day started with:
1. Felicitation to retired teachers, social workers and women who were above 90 years of age. There was a special Felicitation given to a mother who gave birth to eleven children and also to women who hold PHD degree was also honoured today.
2. Traditional dance were performed by all the five GPU.
3. Local artist performed solo dance, song and poetry, celebrating Women’s strength and resilance.
4. A photo gallery was set up . It showcased female figures from history and the community.
5. Food stalls and handloom stalls were also set up by the SHG group from all the GPU.
There was a competition in three categories:
From Performing act Namphing Sangini group stood first, like wise Rita Kamar stood first in an Creative Writing and at last Prashansa SHG stood first in arts and craft display .
The International Women’s Day celebration was a great success fostering awareness unity and empowerment.
