Namchi, 18th March: 1st round of National Deworming Day Programme launched at Gurpisey Junior High School, Namchi in presence of Chief Medical Officer,Namchi District, Dr S.N. Adhikari and Headmaster Gurpisey Junior High School, Mr Hayas Subba, DRCHO Dr B.K. Chauhan,Health officials from District Hospital Namchi,Teachers,ASHAs and school children on 17th March.
The primary aim of the deworming programme is to deworm all children between the ages of 1 and 19 years through schools and Anganwadi centers to improve their health, nutritional status, access to education, and overall quality of life.
CMO,Namchi District,Dr S.N.Adhikari emphasized on the adoption of healthy practices for prevention and treatment of worm infection and highlighted the need for continuous intervention at the individual and community level to combat high prevalence of worm infection in our community.
Headmaster,Gurpisey JHS, Mr Hayas Subba reflected on the importance of working in convergence with the Health & Family Welfare Dept to improve the health status of school going children.
DRCHO,Namchi District, Dr B.K. Chauhan sensitized the participants on the rationale behind observing National Deworming Day.He further stressed on the modes of transmission and ways to prevent it.
CNO, Namchi District,Mrs Bijay Laxmi Rai highlighted on the importance of 100% medication compliance on Deworming Day,followup of left out children on Mop- up Day (24th March 2025) and coverage of out of school children by area ASHA.
ASHA, Ms Krishna Rai demonstrated the SUMANK method of handwashing.
The programme ended with a Vote of thanks by CNO, followed by gift distribution to participants.
