Namchi, 7 May : In a significant move to promote inclusive and grassroots governance, the District Administration Centre of Namchi, led by District Collector cum Magistrate Ms. Anupa Tamling, SCS, conducted an extensive outreach program to the remote villages of Sumsee, Sokpey, Kau and others. These villages, located on the farthest edges of the district, were visited as an attempt of administration at door-to-door governance.
During the visit, villagers shared grievances they have lived with for decades, which have been well received by the entire team of DAC, Namchi.
The interaction was highly participatory, with the administration encouraging a two-way dialogue. Villagers not only raised their concerns but also proposed practical, community-based solutions. These included maintaining roads through local efforts,, and setting up cooperative systems to support agriculture amongst many other things. The District Collector welcomed these suggestions and appreciated the proactive spirit of the communities.
Beyond addressing basic infrastructure and service needs, the discussions focused on holistic development. Additionally, the District Collector also requested the Panchayat Councils to disseminate informations about various schemes introduced by the Government for the betterment and well being of the public and to provide them assistance for taking the best possible use of these schemes and to help them connect with various departments who provides those schemes.
The District Collector assured the communities that their concerns would be taken seriously and all the issues will be addressed to her best efforts.
This outreach initiative underscores the commitment of the Namchi District Administration to bring governance closer to the people and create meaningful, lasting change through community participation. The visit not only helped bridge the gap between the administration and the villagers but also reaffirmed the power of inclusive dialogue in shaping sustainable development towards Sunaulo, Samridhha ani Samartha Sikkim.
Also present during the event were ADC Namchi Ms Tirsang Tamang-ADC, SDM (HQ) Mr Nim Pintsho Bhutia, SDM Namchi Mr Saran Kalikotey, SDM Namthang Mr Pravin Gautam, SDM Yangang Mr Khemlall Dahal, Protection Officer Namchi Ms Megha Pradhan for collective effort towards providing effective administrative services.
