Run for Unity Held in Namchi to Celebrate 50 Years of Sikkim Statehood

Namchi, May 9, 2025 (IPR): Sports and Youth Affairs Department Namchi organised District Level Run for Unity event in Namchi, as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations commemorating 50 years of Sikkim’s Statehood.

The event witnessed participation from 150 boys and girls under the age of 16, representing various schools from the surrounding areas.

The primary aim of the run was to foster a sense of unity and promote physical fitness among the youth.

Councillor NMC, Mr Pem Norbu Bhutia, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Guests of Honor included ADC Namchi Ms Tirsang Tamang and Mr. Basant Yonzon, President of Namchi Football Association.

Also present at the event were Joint Director Sports and Youth Affairs Namchi, Ms Tshering Ongmu Bhutia, Deputy Director Sports and Youth Affairs Namchi Mr Basant Pradhan, school principals and teachers.
