District Collector Namchi Chairs Quarterly DTFI Meeting at DAC

Namchi, 21 May (IPR) : District Collector Namchi cum Chairperson, Ms Anupa Tamling, presided over the quarterly meeting of District Task Force on Immunisation (DTFI) held today at the District Administrative Centre.
During the meeting, Ms Anupa Tamling underscored the importance of reducing home births in the district, highlighting the associated medical risks.
She stressed that Gram Panchayats must remain vigilant and ensure that all cases are promptly reported to the nearest healthcare facility. She further clarified that deliveries outside medical institutions should only be allowed when the safety of both the mother and the child is assured.
She acknowledged that, despite considerable advancements in healthcare, certain individuals remain hesitant to adhere to established medical guidelines. Nevertheless, she expressed optimism that with sustained awareness campaigns and improved access to health services, more families would make informed decisions prioritising the well-being of mothers and infants.
CNO Ms Bijay Laxmi Rai, presented vital statistics and a demographic overview of the Namchi district as derived from the recent CNA survey. Her presentation covered the current status of health services, routine immunisation initiatives, and the challenges encountered during implementation.
She also addressed antenatal services and reviewed critical components such as micro-planning, beneficiary tracking, community mobilisation, and vaccine logistics.
QNS/DQC Ms Mickyla Lepcha delivered a detailed overview of the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) Programme. She highlighted the programme’s role in recognising high-performing healthcare institutions and enhancing the credibility of public hospitals.
Her presentation also featured notable achievements and data concerning Namchi district’s performance under this initiative.
The meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer (Namchi) Dr SN Adhikari, Joint Director (Education) Mr GP Sharma, Child Development Project Officer Mr Laxman Tamang, General Secretary of Dhristhi NGO Mr Passang Bhutia, along with officials from the Health and Family Welfare Department.
