OFFICER TRAINEES OF THE SENIOR GRADE OF INDIAN INFORMATION SERVICE (IIS) 2023 VISITS DISTRICT INFORMATION CENTRE, NAMCHI.

Namchi, May 22 (IPR): A total of 29 Officer Trainees of IIS cadre 2023, hailing from various states across the country visited District Information Centre, Namchi under the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Sikkim, today.
During their visit, the trainees had a brief interaction with Ms Deepti Pradhan, District Information Officer, and the staff members of DIC,Namchi.
The Officer Trainees are on an All India Study Tour, ‘Bharat Darshan’, organised by Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) under Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
The primary objective of the visit was to provide the Officer Trainees with an in-depth understanding of how public communication and media outreach are managed at both the state and district levels in Sikkim.
The programme also focused on providing the Officer Trainees with the state’s public relations strategies, media engagement practices and the pivotal role played by the department in disseminating accurate and timely information to the public.
Further, the Officer Trainees also took a visit to the Office of the Horticulture Inspector, located at Perbing. There, they received an informative briefing on the state’s organic farming initiatives from Horticulture Development Officer Ms Choki Sherpa.
The session covered various organic farming techniques and offered insights into the types of local vegetation cultivated by farmers in the region.
