Coordination Meeting Held Between WCSC&DWD Namchi and JNMI, Boomtar
Namchi, June 2025 –The Women, Child, Senior Citizen & Divyangjan Welfare Department (WCSC&DWD), Namchi, convened a coordination meeting with the staff of JNMI Boys’ Hostel, Boomtar, at the JNMI Conference Hall on 2nd May
The meeting was organised under the leadership of Mr Shyam S. Pradhan, Social Welfare Officer (SWO), Namchi, with the central objective: “To Strengthen Collaboration and Streamline Departmental Operations.”
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including:
• Mr Laxman Tamang, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Namchi Rural Project (ICDS)
• Ms Sophia Lepcha, Assistant Director, Nutrition Cell
• Office staff from the department and JNMI faculty
Ms Sophia Lepcha, the former in-charge of both WCSC&DWD Namchi District and the JNMI Institute, took the lead in facilitating the session. She formally welcomed the newly appointed SWO, Mr Shyam S. Pradhan, who now also oversees JNMI operations.
In her address, Ms Sophia Lepcha provided a comprehensive update on the current initiatives being undertaken at JNMI. She also highlighted the operational responsibilities of the institution and encouraged ongoing collaboration across departments.
Mr Shyam S Pradhan thanked all present and offered insightful remarks on enhancing the operational efficiency of the department.
He laid particular emphasis on the following:
• Maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of institutional premises, in alignment with the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s vision of “Sunowlo, Samriddha ani Samarth Sikkim”
• Strict monitoring of staff and student attendance
• Maintenance of personal and institutional records
• Enhancing kitchen hygiene and ensuring regular food quality checks, particularly in the interest of student health and safety
Mr Laxman Tamang addressed the gathering with a focus on the medical leave protocol, in accordance with recent directives from the Additional Secretary, Headquarters, WCSC&DWD. He underscored the importance of adhering to these protocols to maintain transparency and accountability.
As the attending officials represent various branches of the same parent department, WCSC&DWD, the meeting concluded with a resounding commitment to fostering unity, integrity, and seamless coordination across institutional and departmental roles.
