Paryavaran Parva Celebration, a Green Walk was organised with the objective of promoting environmental awareness and sustainability in Namchi

Namchi, July 11 (IPR): As part of the observance of Paryavaran Parva Celebration, a Green Walk was organised with the objective of promoting environmental awareness and sustainability in Namchi, today.
The Green Walk commenced from Gangtok Road Traffic Point and concluded at District Forest Complex, Namchi.
The Walk was led by DFO (T) Namchi Mr Tsheten Tashi Lepcha along with DFO (Social Forestry / Wildlife) Namchi Ms Anjal Ongmu Chettri and DFO (Soil and Environment) Namchi Ms Marmit Lepcha.
During the event, DFO (T) Mr Tsheten Tashi Lepcha, briefed that the initiative is aimed to reduce the carbon footprint by encouraging officials and staff to walk to their workplace instead of using vehicles in their daily commute. He further emphasized that the walk also serves to raise awareness on adopting environmentally friendly practices in day-to-day life.
It maybe mentioned here that the Green Walk is being observed under the theme
‘Leave a Green Legacy’ as part of Paryavaran Parva Celebration.
The Green Walks was joined by ACF (T) Mr Buwan Sing Subba, ACF Jorethang Mr Akash Das Rai, ACF WL Ms Hari Maya Thapa , ACF Pravin Rai, ACF MS Binamit Lepcha, ACF Sabbi Gadyali and RO (T)Namchi John Rai alongwith other officials and staff from the Forest and Environment Department, Namchi.
