PRESS RELEASE FROM BAC NAMCHI

Namchi, 30 July :State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) organized Block Level Orientation on Strategies for Preventing Drug Use at the Gram Panchayat Level at BAC Namchi for Elected Representative along with Representative from NGOs and SHGs, today.
Honourable Panchayats from Eleven GPU, Representative from NGOs and SHGs attended the programme.
BDO Namchi chaired the programme along with SHO Namchi Mr Ashis Bhujel and Medical Officer Dr Meesho Chettri as a Resource Person.
Dr Meesho Chettri briefed on Understanding Drug Use and its causes, impact & warning signs.
SHO Namchi briefed on Drug Challenge in Sikkim-Policy Framework and Community involvement. He also requested Honourable Panchayats to come forward in support to fight against Drug Use in Namchi.
BDO NAMCHI in his key address highlighted the role of community to control the drug use in Namchi Block. He also urged Honourable Panchayats to form a committee to look and observe unusual activity in the area.
The programme was conducted by Field Facilitator SIRD Mrs Sangeeta Pradhan.
