PRESS RELEASE FROM HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE DEPARTMENT NAMCHI DISTRICT

Namchi, 3rd September 2025: An Orientation-cum-Training Programme on Bio-Medical Waste Management under the Infection Management & Environment Plan (IMEP) was conducted today at District Hospital Namchi, aimed at strengthening safe and effective biomedical waste handling practices in healthcare facilities.

The programme was graced by Director-cum-CMO Dr. S. N. Adhikari and DMS Dr. Bishal Pradhan, along with District Executive Members, S I (NMC) and DE (PHE).

Resource Persons:

3. Mr. Durga Sharma, Scientific Assistant, State Pollution Control Board

4. Mr. Chuzang Lepcha, AD (S), DHN

Participants included MO I/Cs from all blocks, MLHPs from HWC–SCs, UPHC MO/IC, newly appointed MOs, ANS & Sister Incharge, MO Ayush, Dental Surgeon & Hygienist, Technical Officers from Lab, Blood Bank & Eye, CHO MCH, Ward Master (Hospital Administration), and Physiotherapist.

The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. S. N. Adhikari, followed by detailed discussions on:

1. Proper management of biomedical waste in healthcare facilities

2. Amendments to Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules

3. Online process for biomedical waste management authorisation and consent

4. Interactive Q&A session with the participants

The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Bishal Pradhan, DMS, District Hospital Namchi, acknowledging the contribution of resource persons and active participation of attendees.
