The Secretary of Health & Family Welfare Department led a joint inspection of the Newly Constructed 500 Bedded District Hospital Namchi.

Namchi, 10 September (IPR): A joint inspection cum meeting for the new Namchi District Hospital along with Health & Family Welfare Department and Building and Housing Department was conducted today at new Namchi District Hospital.
Health Secretary, Mr Tshewang Gyachho Bhutia, along with officials and HoDs from the Namchi District Hospital, carried out an inspection of the new hospital facilities. The inspection focused on infrastructure readiness, installation of medical equipment, and arrangements for essential public utilities, ensuring that all departments meet the required standards.
He further urged all Heads of various departments to complete the shifting of their respective departments by September 13.
DC Namchi and CMO Namchi were directed to widely disseminate information to the general public about the shifting to the new District Hospital building.
Emphasising smooth transition, he instructed HoDs to oversee the relocation of updated technological machines to their departments and assured that hands-on training would be provided to the staff for basic operational knowledge of these machines.
He also directed, DC Namchi to identify employees from other departments who could be redeployed to the new District Hospital having minimum required qualification are especially qualified for works like plumbing, electrical work, data entry, and head operations. He stated that these candidates would be imparted the required training before placement.
He underlined the importance of maintaining a proper hierarchy for the efficient functioning of departments and instructed that daily follow-ups must be reported to DC Namchi and CMO Namchi.
Additionally, he stressed that newly installed equipment should undergo thorough testing and commissioning before being handed over for final evaluation and safety assessment.
Further, he instructed the workers to prepare a floor-wise blueprint of public toilets for proper management and maintenance of sanitation. As per his direction, the process of shifting departments to the new hospital premises shall commence from tomorrow.
DC Namchi, Ms Anupa Tamling, urged all individual departments to inspect their respective departments, assess the equipments and see if any shortfalls which needs to be reported for addressing the same on time.
Directives were also given to the Fire and PHE departments to visit each department and check the water supply and safety parameters respectively.
Further she stressed the need for inter-departmental coordination to ensure that all technical, safety, and infrastructural aspects are addressed in a timely manner.
She emphasised that the hospital, being a major public facility, must be fully equipped to handle emergencies and provide uninterrupted services from the very first day of its operation.
CMO Namchi, Dr S N Adhikari announced that nearly half of the departments will be relocated this week in preparation for the inauguration of the new district hospital on 17 September.
He further highlighted that adequate manpower planning is being undertaken to ensure uninterrupted patient services once the hospital becomes operational.
Also he added,that the new District Hospital will play a pivotal role in strengthening healthcare delivery in Namchi and nearby areas by providing advanced medical facilities under one roof.
The inspection covered key departments and facilities of the newly constructed District Hospital, including Dental, Dialysis, Blood Bank, General OT, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Basement Parking I and II, Mortuary, CT Scan, MRI, Mammography, Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), and the Ayush Department.
The official opening of new Namchi District Hospital will take place on 17th September where the virtual opening will be done by Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim.
As directed by the Health Secretary, a Blood Donation Campaign will be carried out in the coming days at the newly constructed District Hospital.
