A meeting on District Level Oversight Committee (DLOC) held at District Administrative Centre, Namchi

Namchi, 11th July(IPR): A meeting on District Level Oversight Committee (DLOC) was held at District Administrative Centre, Namchi, today.
DC (Namchi) cum Chairperson (DLOC) Mr. M Bharani Kumar chaired the meeting. Present during the meeting were ADC (Namchi) Mr. Anant Jain, DSP (Namchi) Mr. C.P. Silal along with members of DLOC, Namchi.
During the meeting, DC(Namchi) Mr. Bharani Kumar gave a brief overview of the purpose of DLOC. The committee is formed in compliance with the direction of the Supreme Court of India to supervise, monitor, and upkeep of CCTV and its equipment present in Police stations of the district. The committee shall also interact with Station House Officers (SHO) and seek the details of the functioning, maintenance and other requirements of CCTVs, he informed. He added that the committee should also interact with the Station House Officer (SHO) as to the functioning and maintenance of CCTVs and its equipment in Police Stations, regularly.
Additionally, the committee shall also review footage stored from CCTV in the various Police Stations to check for any human rights violations that may have occurred but not reported.
It was informed that an inspection team headed by ADC(Namchi) will conduct visits to all Namchi PS as per the terms of reference of the committee in coming week.
Moreover additional requisitions such as CCTVs, UPS, Inverters, etc have also been put forth to competent authority so as to meet the guidelines.
