A review meeting of District Task Force Immunization(DTFI) and District Advisory Committee under Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Technique Act(PC-PNDT) convened at the District Administrative Centre

Namchi, 20th June (IPR): A review meeting of District Task Force Immunization(DTFI) and District Advisory Committee under Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Technique Act(PC-PNDT) was convened at the District Administrative Centre, today.
The meeting was chaired by DC (Namchi) Mr. M. Bharani Kumar. Present at the meeting were CMO (Namchi) Dr. D.C. Sharma, DMS (Namchi) Dr. S.N. Adhikari, J.D (Education) Mr. G.P. Sharma along with other health officials and members of the committee.
At the onset of the meeting, Senior DPHNO Mrs. Bijay Laxmi Rai gave details of the status of schemes and programmes implemented under DTFI. She also highlighted objectives, activities and actions carried out under Intensified Diarrhea Control Fortnight (IDCF) programme in the district. On this note, she informed that IDCF was launched on 15th June and will continue until 29th June, across the district at various educational institutes and other prime locations. Under the IDCF, different awareness activities are being carried out including distribution of Oral Rehydration Solutions (ORS) and Zinc tablets through the support of ASHA and Anganwadi workers. Further, she also updated that the detected cases are being sent to labs for examination as per the treatment procedure.
Following the instructions of the Ministry of Health, Government of India, regarding National Deworming Day, which was observed earlier in the year, initiatives is being taken with proper supervision and with the help of Anganwadi workers in order to combat diseases such as Measles and Rubella. It was also informed that a District Level Progress Update will be compiled and identified, after which a routine action plan would be implemented.
ANS Mrs. Mickyla Lepcha briefly spoke about the status of vaccination coverage and birth rate in the district. She informed that 93 percent have been covered under vaccination drives, which were carried out for PCV, IPV, OPV, Rota and other vaccines. In addition, she also said that a total of 880 children were born, out of which, 457 male and 423 female were recorded under the district in the year 2022-2023.
Dr. Pratik Rasaily, DTO of District Tuberculosis Forum, under National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) gave a Power Point Presentation on Tuberculosis programmes implemented under the district, stating the vision and goals and also providing statistical data of TB cases reported and recovered in the district. He highlighted on the additional drives included in the elimination of TB, such as observing Nikshay Diwas every month, Nikshay Poshan Yojna to provide nutritional diet and to encourage community participation, such as TB Mukt Panchayat, which was launched on 23rd March 2023 by the Prime Minister.
The DC noted down the details of the information provided in the meeting and suggested that along with the physical health of an individual, it was equally important to keep the mental health in check, particularly those of students and young adults. The officials from Health Department apprised the DC on various interactions and awareness programmes being held in order to curb any untoward incident. Moreover, the DC also took note of preparedness measures undertaken by Health Department.
