ADC Namchi Chairs District Implementation Committee Meeting on PM Vishwakarma Yojana Scheme

Namchi, March 13 (IPR): ADC Namchi Ms Tirsang Tamang, chaired a District Implementation Committee meeting on the Prime Minister Vishwakarma Yojana Scheme at the conference hall of District Administrative Centre Namchi, today.
The meeting was attended by Mr Nim Pintso Bhutia, SDM Namchi (HQ), Mr Jaydeep Chakraborty Team-lead SL-PMU Commerce & Industries Department, Mr Amit Tamang Commerce & Industries, BDOs and Panchayat members.
ADC Namchi expressed her gratitude to all attendees and provided an update on the status of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana in the district. She acknowledged the ongoing efforts of the committee and the need for continuous monitoring of the WhatsApp group for updates and coordination.
She also briefed the members on the scheme’s objectives and instructed BDOs to ensure that any left-out Panchayat members are added to the WhatsApp group at the earliest for seamless communication.
SDM (HQ) Mr. Nim Pintso Bhutia gave an overview on PM Vishwakarma Yojana and discussed the block-level targets for effective implementation. He stressed upon the importance of grassroots-level execution to ensure that the scheme benefits all eligible artisans and craftsmen.
Amit Tamang provided a detailed explanation through his PowerPoint presentation on the working of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, covering aspects such as registration, process, eligibility, and benefits in a step-by-step manner.
This scheme is designed to support artisans and craftspeople engaged in traditional trades that require manual skills and tools. It covers 18 specific trades, including iron, metal, and stone-based occupations such as armourer, blacksmith (lohar), hammer and tool kit maker, locksmith, and sculptor (moortikar, stone carver, stone breaker). In the construction, architecture, clay, and silver-based categories, it includes masons (rajmistri), potters (kumhar), and goldsmiths (sunar). The leather-based trade focuses on cobblers (shoesmiths/charmarkars). The wood-based sector comprises carpenters (suthar), boat makers, and similar trades. Other traditional trades included under the scheme are basket, mat, and broom makers, coir weavers, traditional doll and toy makers, barbers (naai), garland makers (malakar), washermen (dhobi), tailors (darzi), and fishing net makers.
The scheme offers several benefits to artisans. Beneficiaries receive official recognition in the form of an ID card and a certificate. Training is provided at two levels: a basic training program lasting five to seven days, followed by skill verification, and an advanced training program of at least 15 days, which includes a stipend of ₹500 per day along with a transport allowance of ₹1,000. Additionally, artisans receive a toolkit incentive worth ₹15,000, which is disbursed through an e-voucher or E-RUPI.
To be eligible for the scheme, applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of registration. Government employees and their family members are not eligible. The scheme is specifically intended for artisans and craftspeople engaged in one of the 18 traditional family-based trades.
To avail of the benefits, applicants must provide necessary documents, including an Aadhaar card, mobile number, bank details, voter ID card, and ration card.
