Namchi, 26th September (IPR): Area MLA cum Minister Women and Child Development Department Mr. Sanjit Kharel distributed therapeutic toolkit to District Hospitals, Community Health Centre, Primary Health Centres, Primary Health Sub Centres and Special School for Children with Disabilities, Syari at Namthang, Health and Wellness Centre (HWC), today. He also inaugurated a Physiotherapy Clinic at the premises.
Organised by Women and Child Development Department (W&CDD) had the presence of Chairperson, Sikkim Commission for Protection of Child Rights Ms. Roma Tamang, Chairman Sikkim Poultry Development Board Mr. Krishna Gurung, Additional Political Secretary (Namchi) Ms. Kavita Sapkota, Principal Director (W&CDD) Ms. Normit Lepcha, Additional Secretary (W&CDD) Ms. Bandhana Rai, Joint Commissioner Dr. M. B. Chettri, Joint Director Ms. Tashi Doma Bhutia, Deputy Director Ms. Yamini Pradhan, Assistant Commissioner Mr. P. N. Pradhan, CMO (Namchi) Dr. S. N. Adhikari, SDM (Namchi) Mr. N. K. Kharki, MO (Namthang) Dr. Mingyur D. Lassopa, BDO (Namthang) Mr. Yogen Syangden alongwith staff and beneficiaries.
Addressing, the gathering the Minister congratulated the beneficiaries on receiving the toolkit from the W&CD department and added that these kits will aid in increasing mobility and can improve in the care of the patients. Effective use of these tools will result in the development of the muscles and expand in their range of motions without support, he added. On the establishment of Physiotherapy clinic, he updated that this is one of the historical events in Namthang, this clinic will aid in holistic approach in recovery of patients. This clinic will cater to inpatients and outpatients, as well.
Delving, on the various developmental works conducted at Namthang he highlighted that the HWC will soon be augmented into the state-of-art hospital. A dialysis centre will also be set up to aid the ailing patients, he said. He emphasised that Namthang will soon turn into a sub-division and spoke about the developmental projects being done in the locality by the State Government.
Principal Director (W&CDD) Ms. Normit Lepcha presented an overview about the toolkit distribution which will help people in need. A total of ten beneficiaries will be receiving the toolkit they are New STNM, Sochakgang, Gangtok, Mangan District Hospital, Special School for Children with Disabilities, Syari, Namthang PHC, Kamrang PHSC, Legship PHSC, Yuksom PHC, Soreng District Hospital, Daramdin PHSC and CHC Rhenock. The particulars of toolkit distributed are low and wide treatment bed, parallel bar with staircase, muscle stimulator, exercise ball, hand rehabilitation kit, bolster, wedge, walker (folding), ultrasound, interferential therapy, transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation, therapy mat, sample special furniture, soft toys, examination plinth, therapy band, mirror, eye hand coordination kit and exercise stick.
Joint Commissioner Dr. M. B. Chettri gave a brief introduction of therapeutic toolkit where he mentioned that physiotherapy and rehabilitation services play an important role in prevention, restoration and comprehensive rehabilitation thereby supplementing the health care services. The objective of this distribution is to enhance Physiotherapy and rehabilitation services at primary, secondary and tertiary health levels. This therapeutic tool kits plays significant roles which qualified physiotherapist can use them effectively for immediate service. These tools can be used for musculoskeletal problems and other conditions.
