Asmita City League 2025 concludes at Namchi District.

Namchi, March 27 ( IPR) : The Achieving Sports Milestone by Inspiring Women Through Action ( ASMITA) City League for promotion of Sports among women, increase participation of Women in Sports and Provide Competition exposure concluded at Bhaichung Stadium, today.
The two- day event was organised by Sports and Youth Affairs Department Namchi and Khelo India Centre ( KIC), Namchi under the directive of Ministry Youth Affairs and Sports Government of India.
District Collector Ms Anupa Tamling graced the occasion as the chief guest .
She was joined by ADC Namchi Ms Tirsang Tamang, JD Sports and Youth Affairs Ms Tshering Ongmu Bhutia, esteemed coaches and officials, staff and members from Sports and Youth Affairs Department and players participating from various schools across the district.
Ms Tshering Ongmu in her address, highlighted the commitment in providing opportunities for young and aspiring woman footballers. She expressed her gratitude for the active participation from the players and encouraged more engagements in future events.
Furthermore, she extended her heartfelt appreciation to the District Collector for gracing the occasion and emphasized that the DC’s presence set a remarkable example of women empowerment to inspire many young athletes to peruse their dream in sports and activities.
The League provides a platform for aspiring women athletes to showcase their skills and compete in various fields. The tournament also aligns with the Khelo India mission of strengthening sporting culture across cities and identifying future champions.
The event today witnessed an enthralling kick off from four teams where,
Khelo India Centre ( KIC) stood out as winners and Ms Shweta Rai ( KIC) was awarded with the best player award.
Ms Pema Lhamu Lepcha, Ms Samjhana Dhakal, Ms Sujata Rai and Ms Karishma Rai were also presented with tokens of appreciation for their significant service and dedication to the sports fraternity by the Chief Guest.
Additionally participants, coaches and volunteers who played a crucial role in the event were also acknowledged for their effort and commitments.
The League today witnessed a celebration of collective effort to encourage and uplift women athletes. A true example of empowerment.
