Awareness and training programme under CSIR Floriculture Mission-II
Namchi, November 23: Krishi Vigyan Kendra South Sikkim in convergence with CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology (CSIR-NEIST), Jorhat conducts the first awareness and training under CSIR Floriculture Mission -II for the potential crops – Chamomile and Marigold (Var. Pusa Narangi ) that can be cultivated for their value added product as essential oil or flower oil.
Senior Scientist and Head Shri. I.P. Shivakoti expressed his gratitude to CSIR-NEIST for the future programmes that will be conducted in convergence for the benefit of the farming community to uplift their income. Scientist CSIR-NIEST Dr. Sumit Singh gave a detailed information of the CSIR- Floriculture Mission II and the sectors in which the mission covers. He also highlighted about the potential crops especially Chamomile and Marigold that can be grown for value added product- essential oils by the prospective farmers for increasing their income. He briefed that under the programme the integration of apiculture with floriculture along with skill development will also be conducted so that the farmers benefit from the mission.
