Awareness cum Incentive distribution programme under the theme ‘Mukhya Mantri Krishi Atma Nirbhar and Pasudhan Samriddhi Yojana’ organised at Yangang Government Senior Secondary School

Namchi, 5th July(IPR): An Awareness cum Incentive distribution programme under the theme ‘Mukhya Mantri Krishi Atma Nirbhar and Pasudhan Samriddhi Yojana’ was organised at the auditorium of Yangang Government Senior Secondary School, today.
Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department Mr. L.N. Sharma graced the program as the Chief Guest. Present amongst others were Press Secretary to HCM Mr. Bikash Basnet, Additional Director(AHVS) Dr. Artha Rai, Joint Director(Agriculture) Ms. Nirmala Moktan, Joint Director(Horticulture) Mr. Dikendra Bhujel along with concerned department officials. The event was also attended by the members of Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society(MPCS), dairy, piggery and other progressive farmers of Rangang-Yangang Constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. L.N. Sharma highlighted the pro-farmer initiatives, schemes and programmes of the state government to boost the growth of agriculture in the state. He announced that the government will be launching Mobile Vehicle Veterinary (MVV) in each district to cater and meet the emergency and critical care demands of the livestock in remote and rural places. Besides, he also proposed to provide one MVV in each Block Adminstrative Centre for further easy access to the livestock farmers. Further, he also declared that the construction of Village Level Worker centre will soon start in the Kolthang GPU.
Furthermore, he said that the government is at every turn to encourage the farming community to improve their livelihood. He informed about the incentivised schemes of the government which will relate to dairy, agriculture, horticulture and fisheries.Additionally, he also informed that more than Rs. 22 crores have been provided through scheme Development Through Credit to the progressive farmers.
Speaking, during the programme Press Secretary Mr. Bikash Basnet said that the State Government has left no stone unturned to enhance the livelihoods of the public through various pro people schemes. He said the government is actively improving the core sectors such as Health, Agriculture, Education and many more. Hence, he requested the individuals from various walks of life to work collectively towards the development of the state. He also extended his gratitude to the state government for formulating pro-farmer policies and schemes which have resulted in optimism and increased production of yields among the farming community.The State Government has provided various schemes and projects mainly for the benefit of the farmers and focus has been laid on dairy farmers as incentives has been provided in dairy farming in order to encourage and boost the production of milk in the state. Furthermore, he briefed the gathering about the various developmental projects shaped by the State Government in the constituency such as the upcoming Sikkim University, Passenger Ropeway of Bhaleydhunga which will further strengthen the avenue of education and tourism sector in the constituency.
Credit Linkage State Coordinator Mr Pradeep Bhandari spoke about the Development Through Credit scheme implemented by the government. He informed that around 68.55 lakhs rupees have been provided to the beneficiaries of the constituency. Further, he talked about the subsidy loan approved under National Livelihood Scheme.
During the program, the chief guest Mr. L. N. Sharma handed over the cheques to over 949 beneficiaries of the constituency under Production Incentive Schemes for Horticulture and Agriculture crops, Pig Production and Dairy Production as per the incentivised rates.
The beneficiaries received a total of Rs. 23.95 lakhs under production Incentive Schemes for Horticulture and Agriculture crops.
Whereas, the beneficiaries of the Dairy Production Incentives scheme received a total sum of Rs. 25.46 lakhs.
Similarly, the beneficiaries of Tumin-Lingee Constituency under Production Incentive Schemes for Horticulture and Agriculture crops also received cheques worth Rs. 4.57 lakhs.
Besides, the minister also handed over power tillers, chaff cutters and mill crushers to the progressive farmers of the constituency.
At the outset the Minister also inaugurated Sikkim Garib Awas Yojna (SGAY) house of beneficary Mr. Top Tshering Bhutia at Upper Yangang. Further, the Minister alongwith other dignitaries also handed over a total number of 10 SGAY house keys to the recipient during the course of the programme.
