Awareness cum policy distribution programme on ‘Meri Policy Mere Haat’ under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana’ (PMFBY) conducted at District Administrative Centre

Namchi, 18 November: An awareness cum policy distribution programme on ‘Meri Policy Mere Haat’ under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana’ (PMFBY) was conducted today at the District Administrative Centre, office of the District Magistrate, Namchi, under the chairmanship of Ms Anupa Tamling, DC Namchi.
The event was organised by the Agriculture Department, Namchi District in coordination with the Future Generali Insurance Company, Common Service Centre (CSC), Horticulture Department and Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Namchi.
‘Meri Policy Mere Haath’ is an initiative under PMFBY aimed at increasing awareness and transparency in crop insurance.
It ensures farmers to receive printed copies of their insurance policies, detailing coverage, premiums, and claims.
The initiative educates farmers on enrollment, renewal, and claim processes, encouraging wider participation to protect crops against natural calamities, pests and diseases including wildlife cover for the District.
DC Namchi, in her address, highlighted the importance of crop insurance and asked the stakeholders to ensure the success of the ‘Meri Policy Meri Haat’ initiative under PMFBY.
She urged the department to focus on increasing enrollment by targeting more farmers and directed the insurance company to maintain close coordination with the farmers, particularly in providing efficient claim support and policy issuance.
She informed the attendees that CSCs have been established in every Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU) of the district.
Additionally, she instructed CSC to work in coordination with both the department and the insurance company, assisting farmers with enrollment, renewals, and claims, thereby streamlining the process and achieving the scheme’s objectives.
Mrs Nirmala Moktan, Additional Director Agriculture urged the field functionaries to conduct extensive awareness programmes to educate farmers about the scheme.
She also mentioned that the enrollment has been declining annually for which more work needs to be done and also discussed on empowering farmers and ensuring financial stability in agricultural practices through PMFBY.
Dr. Nation Rai, Deputy Director, Agriculture Department delivered a powerpoint presentation on the overview of PMFBY scheme, year wise enrolment status, activities of stakeholders and overview of Meri Policy Mere Haath.
Likewise, Mr Kailash Subba, a representative from Future Generali Insurance Company gave details on insurance for notified crops, the loan period, and the block wise enrollment status.
The event included the distribution of insurance policies to farmers. This was followed by an awareness programme on ‘Meri Policy Mere Haat’ under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana’ (PMFBY) at Assangthang Gram Prashasan Kendra where Hon’ble Zilla Panchayat, Hon’ble Panchayat President, Ward panchayats, Agri/Horti Staffs, ATMA officials and farmers were also present along with the stakeholders.
