Awareness/sensitization program on Indian Standard and Quality Control order conducted by the Bureau of Indian Standard at DAC Conference Hall, Namchi

Namchi, 16th Feb (IPR): An awareness/ sensitization program on Indian Standard and Quality Control order was conducted by the Bureau of Indian Standard, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India at DAC Conference Hall, Namchi, today.
The Chief Guest for the program was Additional District Collector Namchi Mr. Anant Jain (IAS), Deputy Controller, LMU and CP Cell, F & CSD, Mr. Jikmi Kazi, Deputy Secretary, LMU & CP Cell, F & CSD, Ms. Tripti Hangma Subba, ADC (Development), Ravangla, Mr. Sunil Kumar Mothey and DCSO- Namchi, Mr. Tenzing Bhutia.
The program was facilitated by the Bureau of Indian Standard team, which included Mr. M. Gautait, Deputy Director (Sc- C), BIS, Kolkata and Ms. N. Sultana, Standard Promotion Officer, BIS, Kolkata. They shared their knowledge and experience on the significance of Indian Standard and Quality Control orders and highlighted the importance for maintaining the quality of products and services.
The team introduced the BIS mobile app and a short hands-on training was given to participants to make familiar with the BIS Care App which enables users to check product and verify its authenticity by accessing the product’s details and specifications. This app will help consumers to make informed decisions and reduce the risk of purchasing substandard or counterfeit products.
Overall, the program was a great initiative to educate and sensitize the District level Officers about the importance of adhering to Indian Standard and Quality Control.
The program was attended by HODs and BDOs of Namchi District who were briefed on the importance of Indian Standards and Quality Control orders.
