BENEFICARIES OF 11-NAMCHI SINGITHANG CONSTITUENCY RECEIVES FINANCIAL GRANTS UNDER SIKKIM AAMA SASHAKTIKARAN YOJANANamchi, 17 September: In celebration of the birthday of Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi, and under the guidance and leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang, beneficiaries from 11 Namchi-Singithang Constituency were presented with financial grants in the form of cheques.
The cheque distribution programme under the Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana was organised today by the Women, Child, Senior Citizen & Divyangjan Welfare Department in collaboration with BAC, Namchi, at Kisan Market.
The event was graced by the presence of MLA of 11 Namchi-Singhithang Constituency cum Chairman DACS, Mr Satish Chandra Rai, as the chief guest.
On the occasion, he extended his warm wishes to Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Damodardas Modi on his 75th Birthday, which was marked with a cake cutting ceremony during the programme.
Addressing the gathering, he informed that Ward level Committees will now take the responsibility of informing the public about upcoming schemes. He highlighted that the Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana is as a gesture of respect and support for all the mothers of Sikkim in need.
He also expressed his gratitude towards DC Namchi for her presence and continued efforts in the development of Namchi District.
Further, he informed that Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) will soon visit the newly constructed 500 bedded District Hospital in Namchi.
He urged the beneficiaries to safely keep their cheques and use the money wisely, he encouraged them to explore small business opportunities and assured that those who successfully multiply their amount will also be eligible for additional prize money.
BDO Namchi, Mr Upendra Rai, informed that the Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana programme is being conducted across the entire state of Sikkim, with the initiative that reflects the government’s commitment to empower mothers by providing them with financial assistance and opportunities for self-reliance.
He further highlighted that the 15 day “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign has officially commenced across India from today, with the theme Swachha Utsav 2025, aimed at creating a clean and healthy environment at every Ward, Gram, Block and District. The campaign will conclude on 2nd October.
Encouraging the beneficiaries, he advised them to make the best use of the financial assistance received under the scheme to improve their economic status.
He also informed that an annual prize initiative has been introduced, wherein three beneficiaries who successfully utilize their financial support to grow their income will be rewarded. The first prize winner will receive ₹3 lakh, the second prize winner ₹2 lakh, and the third prize winner ₹1 lakh.
CLC President, Mr Tashi Dorjee Tamang, stated the vision of the Hon’ble Chief Minister is to uplift the mothers of Sikkim through the Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana, under which each beneficiary receives ₹40,000 annually, disbursed in two phases of ₹20,000 each within six months.
He also expressed his gratitude to the MLA of 11 Namchi-Singhithang Constituency and the DC Namchi for their immense support and dedicated efforts towards the development of Namchi District.
Social Welfare Officer, Mr Shyam S Pradhan, briefed on the Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana (Aama), which was launched in 2021 by the Government of Sikkim under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang (Golay).
He informed that the scheme is aimed at providing direct financial assistance to all eligible mothers in Sikkim, ensuring their welfare and socio-economic empowerment.
The scheme also seeks to recognise and respect the role of mothers in family and community building while encouraging them to make productive use of the financial aid.
He further elaborated on the eligibility criteria of Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana, stating that the beneficiaries must be permanent resident mothers of Sikkim, excluding those who are regular government employees or pensioners.
The programme also included an oath-taking ceremony for Swachhata Hi Seva where all the attendees actively participated.
Lastly the programme concluded with the distribution of cheques to the beneficiaries by the chief guest along with other dignitaries present.
