Chief Minister lays foundation stone for Sikkim Global Technical University.

Namchi, March 11 (IPR): The Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang laid the foundation stone for the construction of Sikkim Global Technical University at Rong-Bul, Namchi today.
The Chief Minister graced the programme as the Chief Guest and was accompanied by Madam Krishna Kumari Rai as the Guest of Honour.
The day also had the presence of Ms Raj Kumari Thapa Deputy Speaker SLA, Mr Raju Basnet Minister for Education, Mr Bhoj Raj Rai Minister for UDD, Mr Satsh Chandra Rai MLA, Mr Riksal Dorjee Bhutia MLA, Mr N B Pradhan MLA, Ms Anjeeta Rajalim Adakshya Namchi Zilla, Mr Bikash Tamang Up-Adakshya Namchi Zilla, Mr Ganesh Rai Chairman NMC, Ms Sabitri Tamang Vice Chairman NMC, Panchayat Presidents, Ms Anupa Tamling DC Namchi, Mr Nim Pintsho Bhutia SDM (HQ) Namchi, Mr Saran Kalikotey SDM Namchi, Head of Offices, Officers & staff from line departments and dignitaries.
The Chief Minister in his speech welcomed the construction of Sikkim Global Technical University at Rong-Bul, emphasising its importance to help the GPU proceed towards the path of infrastructral and economical development in the coming days.
He emphasised the need for the unified effort of both the administration and the local gentry in helping the officials of the university for its smooth and speedy construction process.
Further he urged and advised the university officials to accept and implement the state government’s minimum wage policy for the ones they employee.
Talking about cleanliness and hygiene, the CM advised the district admnistration to put extra focus on maintaining a clean hygienic work environment, both in the workplace and in the town area. He also urged the local shop owners and building proprietors in the town vicinity to maintain clean surrounding near them.
He advised all the emloyees and workers in the health care sector to have the sense of providing optimum care that is needed to be provided to the patients.
Adding more about work ethics, the CM also advised the health care workers to implement hygenic work environment in the hospitals as it is required for the patients in their path of recovery.
Talking about New Education Polcies, he mentioned that the students who pass out with distinctions from government aided schools, shall be sponsored for their higher studies in any discipline that they opt for their career.
The Chief Minister also highlighted many infrastructural development programmes and schemes for Namchi, such as construction of new District Admnistrative Centre, construction of new Block Development Office, alternatve play area, reconstruction and remodeling of Namchi central park and many more.
He also mentioned that all the demands laid forward by the Area MLA of Namchi-Singhithang, Mr Satish Chandra Rai, shall be accepted and worked upon after reviewing ways to help the development of Namchi-Singhithang constitency.
The Minister for Edcation in his speech firstly congratulated the local gentry of Rong-Bul for receiving SGTU in their GPU and also thanked the Chief Minister for providing this university in the area which will open future employment prospects to the locals too.
He mentioned that, with the opening of new universities like SGTU, the educational sector of the state is moving towards more opportunities for future generations.
The Minister further thanked the university officals for choosing the state for ther university and hoped that the university shall perform well in both education and economic developments for the state.
The MLA for Namchi-Singhithang Mr Satish Chandra Rai, expressed his gratitde to the Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang for creating a provison to construct the Sikkm Global Technical University in the constituency and the distrct.
Further he mentioned that the Chief Minister has also talked about opening of Sikkm Medical Science College at Maniram. The MLA also mentioned that under the guidance and the directives of the CM, the overall scenario of Namchi-Singhithang constituency has improved and is moving towards the path of beautification and a promising future.
He also talked about submission of demands for the development of Namchi, which he later handed down to the Chief Minister during the programme.
He mentioned that the demands which have been submitted considers the development of Namchi and its outer lining areas within.
He mentioned that the demands has two-phase develomental projects like construction of permanent sewage treatment plants, widening of the roads, construction of fly-overs, reconstruction and remodelling of Namchi central park, construction of employee’s colony, provisions of water management system and many more, which shall benefit the local residents of the constituency.
He also mentioned that many projects and schemes have also been implemented with the help of the district administraton and officials which have led to the progress of Namchi.
The Chancellor of SGTU, Dr Sarav Singhal, during his welcome address thanked the Chief Minister for his unwavering support towards them in the construction of the university.
He also mentioned that the university shall have provisions to employee 25% workforce from the state. He further mentioned that the university is empanelled with concerned Central Government Ministers that help them to operate the unversity smoothly.
The Chancellor also mentioned that university has provisions of national and international internship programmes and placements after the course completion to MNCs in both the country and international states.
The programme also witnessed the felicitation of the Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang and Madam Krishna Kumari Rai, Former MLA, by the Chancellor of SGT and Panchayats from 6 GPUs.
Students who had completed computer and content creator courses from SGTU were also provided with certificates of merits by the unversity through the hands of the Chief Minister.
