Chief Minister of Sikkim, Mr Prem Singh Tamang, along with Madam Krishna Kumari Rai, attended the the State-level celebration

Namchi, September 6 (IPR): Chief Minister of Sikkim, Mr Prem Singh Tamang, along with Madam Krishna Kumari Rai, attended the the State-level celebration of Indra Jatra 2025 at Kabrey, Namthang, today.
Indra Jatra is one of the most revered festivals of the Newar community. It honours Lord Indra, the god of rain and harvest, and seeks blessings for prosperity and a bountiful yield.
Prior to commencement of the State-level celebration, the opening was marked with rich cultural traditions of the Newar community, including Kumari Puja, chariot processions (Kumari Rath Yatra), Pulu Kissi(Elephant Dance), masked dances, and religious enactments. Puja Sthals showcased by different Newar community groups (Sakhas) from across the state were also put up for promotion and conservation of its heritage.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Speaker SLA Mr MN Sherpa, Deputy Speaker SLA Ms Rajkumari Thapa, Council of Ministers, MLAs, Advisors, Chairpersons, APS to HCM (Namchi), DC (Namchi), SSP (Namchi), President Sikkim Newa Guthi Mr Mani Kumar Pradhan along with other dignitaries and public at large.
