DC cum DEO Namchi holds meeting with representatives of political parties

Namchi, March 19 (IPR): A meeting with the representatives of political parties with regard to the General Elections 2024 was convened at the District Administrative Centre, Namchi, today.
The meeting was chaired by Ms Annapurna Alley District Election Officer and had the presence of Dr TN Gyatso Sr SP Namchi, Mr Anant Jain ADC Namchi, Mr Subash Ghimirey ADC(HQ), SDMs, Officers from the concerned department and the representatives of various political parties.
Addressing the meeting, Ms Annapurna Alley DEO informed about the set of guidelines of Election Commission of India (ECI) that needs to be strictly adhered by political parties for free and fair elections. She further requested the representatives to make prior permission for any political campaigns, meetings, other programmes by using Suvidha app.
Dr TN Gyatso Sr SP briefed about the arrangements made for candidates and their supporters during filing of nominations at the DAC premises. He further explained on the requirements for permission of public address system, mobile campaign vehicles, flags, banners, etc which needs to be obtained from the concerned department.
Mr Subash Ghimirey ADC(HQ) Nodal Officer (Law and Order) sensitized about various rules, guidelines and instructions given by the ECI. He apprised on the defacement of public property and public places.
Mr Anant Jain ADC Namchi elaborated about the procedures for filing Nomination Form and many other aspects that need to be maintained by the candidates during filing of nomination. He added that, maximum four nomination papers can be filed by a candidate and the nomination forms can be collected till last day of nomination i.e 27 March. He also informed that nomination cannot be filed on public holidays and the 4th Saturday. Moreover, applicant can also file their nomination through the Suvidha portal and will receive their nomination paper till 3pm on the last date, he added.
Mr Sunil Sharma CPAO explained about the expenditure monitoring of candidates for the election which needs to be maintained by the candidates or by their election expenditure agents. He also discussed various expenditure categories that needs to be maintained in the account of candidates for meeting, banner, posters, and other expenses incurred during their political campaigns.
Mr Rajiv Rai DIO NIC gave a detailed PPT presentation on the use of C-Vigil app which is a mobile application for citizens to report MCC and Expenditure violations during the elections. This app can be downloaded in android and ios devices. Similarly, a demonstration for filing nomination on Suvidha portal was also given to the representatives of the political parties.
All necessary directives on MCC were handed over along with samples of format of forms needed for the nomination process to the representatives of political parties. Also necessary instructions for expenditure monitoring was shared with them.
