DC Namchi chairs meeting on the Integrated Economic Inclusion Action Plan under the Sikkim Integrated Services Provision & Innovation for Reviving Economics
Namchi, October 21 (IPR): A meeting of the District Level Committee on the Integrated Economic Inclusion Action Plan (IEIAP) under the Sikkim Integrated Services Provision & Innovation for Reviving Economics (INSPIRES) was held at the Conference Hall of the District Administration Centre in Namchi. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Anupa Tamling, District Collector of Namchi.
Present at the meeting were Ms Trisang Tamang ADC Namchi, Mr Sunil Mothey ADC (Dev)Ravangla, Dr. C P Rai ADC(Dev) Namchi, Mr Deepak Rai Deputy Secretary SNO/RDD, Dr. S N Adhikari CMO Health and Family Welfare Department Namchi, Mr Sahim Laskar Senior Consultant TSA-RDD, Ms Shiyari Debbarma TSA-RDD and Officers from Line departments.
The Sikkim Integrated Services Provision & Innovation for Reviving Economics (INSPIRES) is an initiative launched by the Government of Sikkim aimed at enhancing economic opportunities for women and youth in the region.
Ms. Anupa Tamling expressed her appreciation for the Sikkim INSPIRES team and underscored the project’s significance for the state. She remarked, “Namchi should not be in competition rather, it should strive to become the best by collaborating to develop exemplary projects that uplift our community into a prosperous financial state.” She directed the line departments to focus on resource generation and encouraged a collective effort to improve the district’s functionality through the INSPIRES initiative.
Mr Sunil Mothey facilitated discussions among department officials regarding the Integrated Education and Awareness Program (IEAP), exploring how various departments could leverage the project and access funding subsidies through INSPIRES.
Mr Deepak Rai provided an overview of INSPIRES and the roles of the IEIAP in collaboration with the World Bank. He highlighted the five-year project’s aim of creating economic opportunities specifically for women and youth, urging all participants to engage passionately in both government and private sectors.
He elaborated on the six sectors that Sikkim INSPIRES is primarily focusing on: Tourism, Hospitality and Wellness, IT/ITES, Creative Economy, Green Jobs, and Child and Adult Care. He encouraged widespread participation in all programmes to enhance awareness and knowledge regarding INSPIRES.
Mr. Sahim Laskar delivered a PowerPoint presentation covering the fundamental concepts of the Integrated Economic Inclusion Action Plan (IEIAP). He highlighted key strengths of Sikkim, the three outcome areas vital for achieving objectives, strategic priorities under the programme, and the roles of various stakeholders involved in the development of IEIAP.
Dr. C.P. Rai discussed the potential of tourism in the region, emphasising the importance of promoting local attractions effectively. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks, reinforcing the commitment to collaborative efforts towards economic inclusivity in Namchi.
