DC Namchi chairs meeting with Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Person with Disabilities Welfare Department at DAC

Namchi, February 24(IPR): Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Person with Disabilities, Welfare Development Department conducted a meeting regarding the formation of District Level Committee on Disability at District Administrative Centre, today.
The meeting had the presence of Ms Anupa Tamling District Collector Namchi, Mr Nim Pintsho Bhutia SDM(HQ), Dr SN Adhikari CMO Namchi, Ms Sophia Lepcha Assistant Director Nutrition, Mr Sandeep Rai Public Prosecutor Namchi, Mr Passang T Bhutia General Secretary Dristhi Namchi, Mr Arjun Darjee faculty member JNMI Boomtar and officers from Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Person with Disabilities, Welfare Department and Health and Family Welfare Department.
During the meeting, the DC gave important directives during the meeting regarding the implementation of disability-related services. She emphasised the need for departments to monitor and ensure that proper facilities are provided at the grassroots level for individuals with disabilities. Additionally, she highlighted the requirement to register and utilise the new UDID (Unique Disability ID) card, which is crucial for managing and accessing disability-related services. In addition, she addressed challenges faced during the documentation including Aadhaar Card and urged them to streamline and improve the procedures for the welfare of persons with disabilities.
Ms Sophia AD Nutrition shared the objectives of the meeting and the need to form the District Level Committee on Disability in the district. She also provided insights into various schemes and acts focused on disability, which includes government programmes, legal rights and services designed to enhance accessibility of the disabled.
The meeting also included in-depth discussions, during which the officers presented various suggestions and recommendations aimed at benefiting individuals with disabilities.
