DC Namchi chairs preliminary meeting for the upcoming Rankey Mela celebration, 2024

Namchi, July 5 (IPR): Ms Anupa Tamling DC Namchi chaired the preliminary meeting for Rankey Mela celebration at the Conference Hall of District Administrative Centre, Namchi, today.
The meeting had the presence of Ms Anupa Tamling DC Namchi, Dr T N Gyatsho Sr SP, Mr Subash Ghimirey ADC (HQ) Namchi, Mr Gopal K Chhetri SDM (HQ), Mr Saran Kalikotey SDM Namchi, officers from various line of department along with the members of Rankey Mela organiging committee.
During the meeting, Ms Anupa Tamling DC Namchi expressed her gratitude to members for their warm welcome and highlighting the significance of Rankey Mela celebration. She also congratulated the committee members for keeping the old tradition alive as it is celebrated annually only in Namchi District.
She further requested the committee members to focus on the various safe sporting events, especially for the elderly due to the raising concerns of the mental problems in our society. She also urged the fire department to take extra precautions as the celebration involves the burning of the Rankey effigy in the vicinity. Further, She assured the committee members to provide full support from the line departments in order to make the event successful.
Dr TN Gyatso, Sr SP Namchi suggested the committee to make proper list of programmes for 16th and 17th of July ensuring the safety and security of the public while burning of the effigy during the celebrations.
Mr Milan Rai President of the organising committee briefed the chair about the ancient history of the celebration and informed about the popularity it gained over years. He proposed a list of events and activities for the upcoming celebration to make it a grand success.
