DC Namchi Inspects Preparations for Maghey Sankranti Mela 2025
Namchi, January 12 (IPR): Ms Anupa Tamling, DC Namchi, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the preparations for the upcoming Maghey Sankranti Mela 2025 in Jorethang today.
She was accompanied by Mr Subash Ghimirey ADC (HQ) Namchi, Ms Trisang Tamang ADC Namchi, Mr Santosh Alley ADC Soreng, Ms Monika Rai SDM Jorethang, Mr Saran Kalikotey SDM Namchi, Mr Pravin Gautam SDM Namthang, Mr Suraj Rai DPO Namchi and Officers from various line departments.
The DC, along with the Officers and the disaster management team, conducted an inspection at the river sites of Rangeet and Ramman. Special attention was given to the safety of major equipment, with specific duties assigned to departments to ensure smooth operations.
The key safety measures discussed during the inspection were as follows:
Deployment of the Quick Reaction Team (QRT)
Setting up of an IRB station
Provision of emergency first-aid services
Installation of floodlights
Prevention of child labour at the event
Additionally, mobile toilet facilities for the public were emphasised, ensuring comfort and cleanliness during the Mela.
Further, the DC visited the Middle Lane Bazaar, where she was briefed on the Job Mela. She was informed about the job opportunities available and the various facilities for participants. She also visited different stalls to assess their progress and organisation.
A visit was made to the One-Stop Centre under the Women and Child Development Department, where the DC engaged in a discussion with the staff. She urged them to work collaboratively with the HUB in case of any emergencies. The importance of displaying helpline numbers for women’s protection, child safety, and police services was also highlighted.
She was informed that the Social Welfare Inspector for Vega Bond will be operational 24/7 during the event. Additionally, 15 police booths have been set up, each equipped with specific helpline numbers for emergencies:

The inspection concluded with a meeting at Bangey Bazar, where the DC , along with Mr Madan Century, MLA Zoom-Salghari, discussed the final arrangements for the Maghey Sankranti Mela. These collaborative efforts aim to ensure the success and safety of the event.
The authorities have made thorough preparations to guarantee the smooth operation of the event, with a clear focus on safety, accessibility, and community well-being.
