DCDC Meeting Held in DC’s Chamber, Namchi

Namchi, March 18 (IPR): The Department of Cooperation organised a meeting of the District Cooperative Development Committee (DCDC) today, chaired by the District Collector of Namchi.
Also present during the meeting were Ms Trisang Tamang ADC Namchi, Mr Nim Pintsho Bhutia SDM (HQ), Mr Purushattam Pradhan AD Cooperation Department and Officials from concerned departments.
The committee reviewed the challenges faced by the Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies (MPCS), noting that despite their operational efforts, a significant shortage of funds is hindering their effectiveness. The lack of adequate funding is directly impacting the viability of business operations within these societies.
DC Namchi highlighted several potential for boosting the sales of products made by Self-Help Groups (SHGs). She suggested the creation of attractive gift packs featuring SHG products and assured her support in promoting these goods to enhance their market presence.
She underscored the importance of engaging young people in the functioning of MPCS and suggested that for the MPCS to function effectively, they must be well-equipped to meet customer needs and implement effective marketing strategies. She also stressed the significance of improving the shop aesthetics to attract more customers.
AD Cooperation Department emphasized the need for enhancing the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) particularly in Sametar and Poklok. He highlighted various factors affecting the distribution process and put forth several suggestions to enhance efficiency, ensuring that the program’s objectives are effectively achieved for the benefit of the farming community.
The meeting also focused on evaluating the current packaging, branding, and demand-supply chain of products produced by the cooperatives. Discussions explored potential strategies to enhance the economic scale of these products.
The committee reviewed the targets set for Common Service Centres (CSC) under the IYC programme. There was an inquiry into the functioning, efficiency, and locations of these centres.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to addressing the challenges highlighted and exploring innovative strategies to ensure the success and sustainability of cooperative efforts in the district.
