District Administrative Centre Namchi observes “World No Tobacco Day”

Namchi, May 31(IPR): World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) was observed by District Administrative Centre Namchi, by taking pledge against the use of tobacco with the theme “Protecting Children from Tobacco Industry Interference”.
The pledge was administered by Ms. Annapurna Alley District Collector Namchi, in presence of Sr. SP, SDMs, HoDs and staff members.
At the outset, Mr. Gopal K. Chettri, SDM-HQ enlightened the gathering about the importance of the WNTD and the awareness campaign against the use of tobacco products.
He further explained the provisions of Cigarettes & other Tobacco products (prohibition of Advertisement Regulation of Trade Commerce Supply & Distribution) Act. 2003 and COTP Act 2003.
Encouraging the Staff to give up the use of tobacco, he appealed all the staff to stay away from tobacco for two hours (10 Am – 12 Noon).
