District Collector chairs quarterly meeting of DTFI, NQAS, PC-PNDT
Namchi, May 14(IPR): A quarterly meeting of the District Task Force Immunization(DTFI), National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS), and Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Technique (PC-PNDT) was convened at the District Administrative Centre, Namchi, today.
The meeting was chaired by DC Namchi cum Chairperson Ms Annapurna Alley and had the presence of Dr SN Adhikari CMO (Namchi), Dr BK Chauhan DRCHO, Ms Mikila Lepcha Quality Consultant, Ms Jayanti Sharma DPHNO, Mr GP Sharma Joint Director (Education) along with other members and officials of Namchi District.
Ms Jayanti Sharma, DPHNO gave an overview of the present status of demography, birthrate, and sex-ratio in Namchi District. She updated the targeted achievements made on the immunization programmes for disease control in the annual year 2023-24. She apprised that 96 percent of targeted children was covered under the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation programme whereas 98 percent of school children was administered Albendazole tablets in the first phase of National Deworming Day.
Dr SN Adhikari CMO Namchi briefed the overall functioning of PC-PNDT in the district. He informed that an Ultra Sound Machine has been allocated to the District Hospital Namchi, and stated that the technical staff will soon be available to perform the diagnosis and other clinical care to patients. Additionally, the CMO also presented the additional requirements for PC-PNDT activities before the DC/Chairperson.
Ms Mikila Lepcha Quality Consultant spoke about the action plan and the specific requirements of NQAS for public health facilities for the year 2024-2025. She apprised that two Wellness and Health Centres (WHCs) of Melli and Namthang has been selected for assessment of NQAS this year, whereas eight Sub-health Centres (SHCs) namely of Mamley, Kamrang, Damthang, Salghari, Maniram-Bhanjyang, Mellidara, Wok and Lingmo has been shortlisted for NQAS under the Aspirational Block programme in the district. She also provided an update on the Quality Control team’s activities and readiness for external assessments of NQAS Certification for Temi PHC, Turuk SHC, and Sadam SHC, which will take place by the end of this month.
During the meeting, Mrs Annapurna Alley, DC Namchi directed the concerned official for proper implementation of all the health-related programmes and schemes to achieve absolute coverage for a safe and healthy community. She further instructed the officials to make effective use of manpower in order to meet their office demands.
