District Collector Namchi chairs DTFI Meeting at DAC

Namchi, 19 August (IPR): Ms Anupa Tamling, District Collector Namchi and Chairman of the District Task Force on Immunisation (DTFI), chaired a meeting at the District Administrative Centre, today.
Present during the meeting were Dr S N Adhikari CMO Namchi, Mr Suraj Rai CEO Namchi, Mr B K Chauhan DRCHO, Mr Gopal Sharma Joint Director Education Department, Ms Bijay Laxmi Rai CNO, Ms Mickyla Lepcha NQAS, ANS cum DQC, Mr Passang Bhutia, General Secretary of Dhristhi, along with other officers from the Health and Family Welfare Department.
The District Collector emphasised the need to enhance healthcare facilities and recommended the DTFI committee to track and record pregnancies from the first trimester. She advocated for the promotion of normal deliveries and proposed that starting from 17 September, mothers who deliver normally will be acknowledged by the district hospital in collaboration with the District Administrative Centre.
She also addressed the raising concerns regarding teenage pregnancies and called for comprehensive measures to prevent them.
Additionally, she advised on working closely with all departments to address current issues and stressed the importance of departmental cooperation to foster overall district development.
Mr B K Chauhan presented the demographic profile of Namchi district based on the CNA survey and discussed health facilities, routine immunisation programmes, and operational constraints. He reported on antenatal check-ups and reviewed micro plans, tracking, mobilisation, and vaccine logistics. He also provided updates on the ongoing programmes such as the Stop Diarrhoea Campaign and National Deworming Day.
Ms Jayanti Sharma elaborated on the strategies for Measles and Rubella elimination, covering the syndromes, transmission, and the Government of India’s mission for complete eradication.
Ms Bijay Laxmi Rai discussed the effects of technological advances on the Child Sex Ratio and provided information about the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC PNDT) Act of 1994, highlighting its importance.
Ms Mickyla Lepcha presented the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) Programme, which recognises high-performing facilities and aims to enhance the credibility of public hospitals. She noted that ten healthcare facilities have been selected for NQAS Certification and twelve service packages for HWC-SHC, and outlined the goals for qualifying for NQAS Certification.
