District Disaster Management Authority (Namchi) organized a day long Orientation Programme on Disaster Management and Volunteerism

Namchi, 6th August: Under “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” the District Disaster Management Authority (Namchi) organized a day long Orientation Programme on Disaster Management and Volunteerism. The Programme was chaired by District Collector (Namchi) Mr. M. Bharani Kumar and attended by Additional District Collector (Namchi) Mr. Anant Jain, Sub Divisional Magistrate (HQ) Mr. Chiran Rizal and District Project Officer (Namchi) Mr. Abhishek Kharel. The participants for the programme were the Apada Mitras of Namchi District and Disaster Management alongwith Volunteers of Sri Satya Sai Organization.
The District Collector at the outset informed about the need for organizing such programme and underlined the importance of volunteers in managing Disaster situation. He spoke at length about role of volunteers.
Further the ADC highlighted about the Apada Mitra scheme launched by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and its other significance. The SDM (HQ) also highlighted about the role of volunteers, situation handling and further motivated the volunteers to actively play the role of Disaster mangers in coordination with District Administration.
The DPO gave a brief presentation on Disaster its Management and Volunteerism and other impertanant issues. He highlighted the need for having volunteers for Disaster Management in the District.
The programme also included Table Top Exercise for earthquake and landslide scenarios. The participants were divided into various group and were made to present their respective response plan.
