Namchi, March 30 (IPR): Mr Lalhmingmawia Ralte, Expenditure Observer (Namchi) conducted a meeting regarding the budget of election expenditure of candidates with the Assistant Expenditure Officer (AEO), Accounting Teams (ATS) and representatives of intending candidates from 13-Namthang Ratyepani, 14-Temi-Namphing and 15-Rangang-Yangang at Town Hall, Namchi, today.
During the meeting, the EO briefed the representatives of the political parties about the Red Chart as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI) for their election expenditure. He mentioned that the amount for the expenses for the campaign or rally should not exceed more than 28 Lakhs per candidate. Expenditure agent is the Expenditure Agent is accountable for the expenses and updating the expenditure register and Bill book who shall be appointed by the respective party candidates, he added.
The EO also mentioned that all payments are to be paid by cheque and should not break vouchers for the expenses which are below Rs. 10,000. He further stated that the expenditure noted on official records and candidates’ record should be coordinated with each other.
Mr Sunil Sharma, Nodal Officer (Expenditure Monitoring) deliberated thoroughly about the minute details on the Red Charts and the bill book to the representatives of candidates. He also exhorted for vigilant monitoring of vehicles plying for political campaigning and ensure that proper permission is obtained to prevent obstruction and nuisance to the public.
He further urged all to adhere to the Model Code of Conduct norms while laying down the do’s and dont’s for the contesting candidates.
