Geological Surface Mapping at Namchi District

Namchi, 23rd May:Under the direction of the State Government, the Sub Divisional Magistrate (HQ) Mr. Chiran Rizal, along with Joint Director(Department of Mines & Geology) Mr. Keshar Luitel initiated Geological Surface Mapping of the Head Rest Tunnel (HRT) Alingment of the LANCO Teesta HEP Ltd. They were accompanied by District Project Officer(Disaster Management)Mr. Abishek Kharel, Sr Geologist Mr. Passang Shepa alongwith officials namely Sr Manager ( Geo Physics, NHPC), GM (NHPC), Revenue Surveyor and other local gentry.
The Geological Surface mapping is done to demarcate alignment of tunnel, vulnerable locations and high risk zones.
The team conducted surface mapping at Reshep Ward which lies above the ADIT 1. The surface mapping shall be carried out along entire stretch extending from Sirwani to Pamphok, Namchi District. During the survey GEO Phones shall also be installed to monitor and measure the level of blast conducted.
At the outset, SDM and Joint Director briefed the public about the concept of Geological Surface Mapping and installation of Geo Phones and its implications and importance.
