Ginger Plantation Drive Marks 50 Years of Statehood and Welcomes Prime Minister to Sikkim

Namchu, 28 May (IPR): As part of the celebrations commemorating 50 years of Statehood, and to extend a warm welcome to the Prime Minister of India during his visit to Gangtok, the 38-Poklok Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU) under Jorethang Sub-Division organised a ginger plantation drive at Samatar today.
This meaningful initiative was undertaken by the entire GPU with the objective of transforming barren land into cultivable terrain, aligning with the vision of the Chief Minister, Mr Prem Singh Tamang.
The plantation drive was led by the Panchayat President of the 38-Poklok GPU Ms Anuka Sharma, along with the Vice President, Panchayat Members, Assistant Director, and the staff of GPU. Their collective effort demonstrated strong community spirit and commitment to sustainable development.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Jorethang Mr Yogen Syangden, also actively participated in the plantation drive, adding encouragement and administrative support to the cause.
