Governor Shri. Ganga Prasad at Borong Phamtam GPU

Namchi, 22nd April (IPR): Governor Shri. Ganga Prasad attended the entry point meeting of the Governor’s adopted village at Borong Phamtam Gram Panchayat Unit at Borong Senior Secondary School, today. Present amongst others were DC (Namchi) Shri. M. Bharani Kumar, ADC (Namchi) Shri. Anant Jain, ADC (Dev, Ravangla) Shri. Sunil Mothey, SDPO (Ravangla) Shri. Bikash Tiwari, Panchayat President Smt. Rupa Gurung officials from various line departments, Panchayat members and public at large.
Addressing, the gathering Governor Shri. Ganga Prasad congratulated the public of Borong Phamtam GPU and added that this GPU will in due course of time be transformed into a model GPU. He informed that in order to achieve this goal, collective and co-ordinated efforts from the panchayats, public and line departments are very important. The primary aim for adopting this GPU is to strengthen the Panchayati Raj, transformation of socio-economic activities by making available various facilities in the GPU and to inculcate a sense of pride and self-reliance amidst the general population, he added.
Additionally, for the smooth functioning of business and other conveniences in the GPU, the Governor announced to provide Rs. Five Lakh to resume the operations of Borong Polok Handmade Paper Unit and Rs. Two Lakh Fifty Thousand to be used for education purposes. He informed that for the upgradation of Borong Hot Spring, Homestays and other tourism related activities, he will consult with the Tourism Department for their assistance.
The Governor emphasized that various schemes and projects of the Central as well as the State Government should be utilized and implemented extensively at the GPU. As, he underlined that these schemes and projects have been developed for the benefit of the masses. He further cited successfull stories of saffron cultivation, diary farming, Lijjat Papad and many more which can be embraced if viable by the people of this GPU so that they can be self-reliant and self-sufficient.
Speaking, about the GPU ADC (Namchi) Shri. Anant Jain gave a brief about the demographics including the geographical positioning, Health institutes and many more.
During, the course of the meeting an interactive session was also conducted between the Governor, locals and officials wherein the Governor was appraised regarding the status of the projects. He was also provided with valuable solutions and suggestions needed for the improvement of the GPU for a better standard of living.
