Gram Sabha Under Namchi BAC concludes at Maniram Phallidara GPU

Namchi, 13 January (IPR) : The Gram Sabha for Maniram Phallidara GPU was conducted under the leadership of Panchayat President Mr Sonam Tamang.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr Satish Chandra Rai Area MLA 11-Namchi Singithang Constituency, marking the completion of the Gram Sabha proceedings under the Namchi Block GPUs.
The Gram Sabha was honoured by the presence of several distinguished guests, including
Mr Passang Dorjee Lepcha Zilla Panchayat, Ward Panchayats, Mr Tashi Tamang FormerChairman, Ms Roma Tamang Former Chairman, Mr Upendra Rai BDO Namchi,
Officers from various Line Departments, Assistant Director (PRI)and Office Staff of GPK
The Gram Sabha commenced with the arrival of the Panchayat President, followed by the presentation of the GPDP (Gram Panchayat Development Plan) and various demands by the respective Ward Panchayats. A key highlight of the event was the launch of the GPU’s Annual Calendar for the year 2025.
The Gram Sabha was conducted under the People’s Plan Campaign, which included prior meetings such as the Bal Sabha, Youth Sabha, and Mahila Sabha. During the meeting, the following resolutions were adopted:
1. Prohibition of Subletting of Trade Licences within the GPU.
2. Compulsory Garbage Fee Payment for obtaining a Sanitation Certificate for households located in the Bazar Area.
3. A Maternity Relief Scheme where women under the BPL (Below Poverty Line) category will receive an instant relief of Rs 10,000 during maternity.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Satish Chandra Rai appreciated the work done by the Panchayat of Maniram Phallidara GPU. He urged all Officers of the Line Departments to address and resolve issues raised during the Zero Hour promptly.
Furthermore, he instructed the Departments to conduct awareness programmes to educate the public on various departmental schemes aimed at their welfare. He assured the public that the work would be taken up on a priority basis.
Mr Upendra Rai extended his gratitude to all the Officers from the various Line Departments who had attended and contributed to the successful conduct of the Gram Sabha.
Their efforts in responding to public queries made the event more effective and contributed to strengthening the role of Panchayat Raj in the socio-economic development at the grassroots level.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Panchayat President, Mr Sonam Tamang.
