Greetings from Namchi District Administrative Centre on the auspicious occasion of Pang Lhabsol

Namchi, 31st August (IPR): Pang Lhabsol is a unique festival which commemorates the consecration of Mount Khangchendzonga as the guardian deity of Sikkim, to this day the mountain god is invoked and prayed upon on the occasion of the festival to continue to protect Sikkim.

Pang Lhabsol is celebrated to offer respect and homage to the third highest mountain, Mount Kanchendzonga, considered as the guardian deity of Sikkim. It is said that the Sikkimese invoke God on this day to bless and protect its land.
The day also commemorates the blood brothership between the Lepchas and Bhutias that was sworn in Kabi in the 15th century.
