“Hamro Bari Hamro Bali”- a ground breaking initiative of 12 Namphing GPU in Namchi District

“Hamro Bari Hamro Bali”- a ground breaking initiative of 12 Namphing GPU in Namchi District. The GPU has already rolled out this initiative of restarting cultivation in the barren land available in the GPU on 24.02.2025. The GPU started with ginger and maize cultivation in some of the barren private lands. The activity is inspired by the vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim who has always empasised in bringing all uncultivated land back to cultivation. The main aim of the initiative is to bring about positive change in the mindset of the people to reconnect to mother earth. The activity will benefit our people in number of ways like enhancement of our State GDP, increase the Own Source Revenue (OSR) of the GPU, encourage youngsters to take up Agriculture professionally, a step towards self sufficiency in agricultural produces, and many more.

On the ocassion of National Panchayat Day 2025, the GPU passed resolution in the Special Gram Sabha in the presence of ADC Development, Ravangla for contribution of one day labour every week by all Hon’ble Panchayats and all the Government functionaries of the GPU for their mission- “Hamro Bari, Hamro Bali”.  Accordingly, an Office Order to this effect has also been issued.
