Health Mela Enters Day 3 At Ravangla

Namchi, 20th April (IPR): A total of 766 people benefitted from a ‘block-level health mela’, organised by Health and Family Welfare Department as a part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ under the guidance of Health Ministry at Ravangla, today.
The mela was inaugurated by Political Secretary Chief Minister Shri. Jacob Khaling in the company of Zilla Adakshyay (Namchi) Smt. Tshering Dem Bhutia and BDO (Ravangla) Shri. Upendra Rai. Present amongst others were Dr Urgen Sherpa DNO/CPHC cum DSO (S), Dr Junita Yonzon DRCHO (S), Dr Anju Rai DTO (S), Dr Pallavi Pariyar (MO IC Ravangla), Dr Sudeep Pradhan (Medicine), Dr Tenzing Zigmi Bhutia (ENT), Dr Kavita Thapa (MO AYUSH), Dr Roshan Poudyal (Paediatric), Dental surgeon from Ravangla PHC, IEC Team, Health staffs from Ravangla and ASHAs & AWWs, a team from Satya Sai Samiti and other officials.
It maybe mentioned that the Health Mela will be held at Melli and Namthang on 21st April and at Tokal-Bermiok and Jorethang on 22nd April, respectively.
The primary objectives of the Health Mela are to increase health awareness of the population for prevention of various communicable and non-communicable diseases. Motivate beneficiaries through innovative activities to make positive health behavior changes. Provide screening for early diagnosis, basic health care services including referrals, specialised services and diagnostic services. Make people aware about different health and family welfare programmes and various systems of medicine being undertaken by the Government which could lead them to avail such services.
