Namchi 5th October 2023(IPR): In response to the recent disaster that wreaked havoc in parts of Sikkim, the District Child Protection Unit, in collaboration with the Child Welfare Committee, Namchi District, sprang into action, today.
The dedicated team visited the Bhawana School Relief Camp in Mamring, reaching out to those in crisis, particularly families with infants and senior citizens, who were affected by this natural disaster.
The team wasted no time in providing much-needed assistance to the distressed residents of the relief camp and distributed essential items such as clothes, undergarments, towels, soaps, and dry snacks, ensuring that the basic needs of the affected individuals and families were met during this challenging time.
However, it wasn’t just the physical aid that the team provided, they also extended emotional support by offering counselling and guidance to help individuals cope with the trauma of the disaster.
Additionally, the team took the opportunity to educate the camp’s residents about various schemes to rebuild their life and resources available for them. They offered solace by raising awareness about these initiatives and helping individuals cope with the psychological scars left by the disaster.
