Independence Day Celebrated at Jorethang

Jorethang, 15th August: Jorethang sub-division observed the 76th Independence Day Celebrations 2022 with patriotic fervour and spirit at Green Park, Jorethang today. Chief Guest on the occasion was Honb’le Area MLA Zoom Salghari and Chairperson SIMFED Smt. Sunita Gazmer while Hon’ble President of N.J.N.P Shri. Pavitra Manav attended the program as the Guest of Honor. The program was also attended by members of Nayabazar Jorethang Nagar Panchayat (NJNP), executive members of Jorethang IDCC 2022, HOD’s and officers of Jorethang sub-division, School heads and teachers, former Chairman and Councillors, former government bureaucrats, representatives of various communities and immense group of people from all walks of life.
At the onset of the program, Chief Guest Honb’le Area MLA and Chairperson SIMFED was given the Guard of Honour followed by the flag hoisting of the tricolour.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest on the occasion commended and congratulated the Jorethang Independence Day Celebrations Committee 2022 (IDCC) on remarkably organizing and executing the 76th Independence Day Celebrations at Jorethang. Commemorating the day to our heroic Indian freedom fighters, the Chief Guest spoke about their immeasurable struggle and credited our freedom to be a result of their supreme sacrifices. She remarked that our aspirations as a nation should always be guided by their vision of a country free of hatred and division. Moving to issues closer home, the Chief Guest lauded the leadership of the Chief Minister of the state and hailed the CM for introducing exemplary pro-people schemes and initiatives for the greater good of all sections of the society. The Chief Guest also expressed her admiration for the women group of Majhi Goan for their relentless efforts in trying to eradicate the pressing problem of drug peddling and drug abuse in Jorethang. She assured her support to such a cause and urged the public of Jorethang to also come forward in supporting such noble initiatives with all their might.
Further, drawing attention to the demands fulfilled by the Chief Minister for Zoom Salghari constituency, the Chief Guest retorted that the constituency will see an unprecedented evolution in terms of development and infrastructure in the coming days. She highlighted that the upcoming projects under Zoom Salghari constituency such as construction of nepali bhawan, gymnasium, university, public toilets, dispensary, upgradation of Jorethang senior secondary school ground and auditorium are all milestones that the present state Government has set which all are noteworthy accomplishments.
Guest of Honour, President of NJNP also addressed the gathering wherein he brought to light 6 schemes that NJNP has envisioned for the public of Nayabazar and Jorethang. He called upon the support and cooperation of the public inoder to implement these policies which are women and senior citizen centric.
The program also saw felicitation being accorded to group C&D employees and various NGO’s under the sub-division for their dedication and service in various spheres. Several cultural performances and sporting events participated by various schools formed the cultural highlights of the day.
