Jorethang all set to host Maghey Sankranti Mela, 2025

Namchi, January 13 (IPR): Jorethang is all set to celebrate its annual event of Maghey Sankranti Mela, starting from 14th January to 21st January, 2025.
With the vision of Mr Prem Singh Tamang, Chief Minister of Sikkim, to celebrate the event in a grand fashion, Maghey Sankranti Mela, 2025 boasts numerous cultural, traditional and sport events.
From 10th All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Tournament to performances by renowned asrtists like Kailash Kher and many more, creating a platform for entreprenuers, premiere of films from the filmmaking minds of the state, the celebration will have it all.
Alongside, under Rural Sports-II activities, CM One Mile Run, marathon, State Level Inter Constituency Football Tournament for both men and women and other sport events are also being hosted by Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sikkim.
Numerous traditional and cultural aspects are also being highlighted throughout. From performances of ‘Dhan Nach’ and other traditional dance forms, to an area assigned as ‘Bangay Bazar’ for sale of local drinks and cuisines, the event will also have traditional stalls to showcase the rich heritage of each and every community present in the state.
Maghey Sankranti Mela, 2025, aims to highlight the state’s vibrant traditions, culture and heritage and take the state’s recognition to newer national and international platforms.
