Jorethang witnesses second day of State Level Inter Constituency Football Tournament

Namchi, Jan 10 (IPR): Football being as one of the attraction for Maghey Sankranti Mela 2025, as part of the State Level Inter-Constituency Football Tournament organised by the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Sikkim, in collaboration with the Maghey Mela Committee, the second quarterfinal match took place between 06 Daramdin Constituency and 24 Martam-Rumtek Constituency.
The event was graced by Mr Bhoj Raj Rai, Minister of Urban Development and Food & Civil Supplies Departments, as the Chief Guest, while Mr B S Pant MLA Temi-Namphing attended as the Guest of Honour.
Accompanying the Chief Guest were Mr M N Sherpa Speaker SLA, Mr Yougen Tamang Press Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr Pavitra Manav President NJNP, Ms Manjari Rai Vice President NJNP, Panchayats NJNP, Ms Monika Rai SDM Jorerthang, Mr Dilip Dong MEO NJNP, Officers from line departments and Mr Sanju Pradhan Former Indian Footballer.
After scoring a goal each by both the competing teams, the match proceeded towards a penalty shoot-out, where 06 Daramdin constituency emerged victorious by defeating their opponent with 5 to 4 goals respectively .
Mr Sangrash Subba from the winning team was awarded with the title of Man of the Match for the day.
Additionally, traditional cultural performances were also presented during the course of the match.
Further, the Chief Guest was also presented with souvenirs from the Sports And Youth Affairs Department.
