Madam Krishna Rai inaugurates Maghey Mela Cinema Ghar at Community Hall, Jorethang.

Namchi, 9 January (IPR): Jorethang is all set to host the annual event of Maghey Sankranti Mela 2025 and in relation to the event, Maghey Mela Cinema Ghar at the Community Hall, Jorethang, was officially inaugurated by Madam Krishna Rai, Former MLA, today.
Maghey Mela Cinema Ghar is a platform for the filmmakers and artists to showcase their works and to promote the culture of film and cinema in the state. Further, it also aims to cater to all the categories of the community in a whole by providing a platform of entertainment.
Accompanying the Chief Guest were Mr Madan Cintury MLA Zoom-Salghari Constituency and the Chief Patron for Maghey Sankranti Mela, Mr Satish Chandra Rai MLA Namchi-Singhithang Constituency, Mr Biren Chandra Rai Advisor SBS, Mr Yougen Tamang Press Secretary to Chief Minister, Ms Annapurna Alley Secretary IPR Department, Mr Pavitra Manav President NJNP, Mrs Nikita Rai Vice President NJNP, Ms Monika Rai SDM Jorerthang, Mr Bishal Mukhia Director SIRD&PR, Mr Dilip Dong MEO NJNP and Officers from various line departments.
While addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest, Madam Krishna Rai Former MLA, highlighted the vision of the Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang, to elevate the Maghey Sankranti Mela to a bigger platform, so that through this event the state of Sikkim be recognised on a global platform. She also thanked the Chief Minister for his unwavering support in celebrating the event.
The Chief Guest further proceeded to show her gratitude to all the filmakers and the artists from the state of Sikkim, who through their efforts and various cinematic works, been able to take the state’s recognition on national and international platforms and events.
She further urged the filmakers and the artists to cumilatively work and proceed to make newer films that showcases various schemes provided by the state government as means of promotion which the public can benefit from.
Further, the Chief Guest mentioned about various visions of the Chief Minister and the State Government to promote and uplift the cinematic scenario of the state and provide more support to the filmmakers and the artists. She also urged each and everyone involved in the Maghey Sankranti Mela to work with a clear mindset of making the event a grand success.
Prior to the address of the Chief Guest, filmmakers Ms Rupa Tamang and Mr Bivek Rai, provided with insights about the filmmaking scenario in the state. They, on behalf of all the filmmakers and the artists thanked the Chief Minister for his unwavering support towards the fraternity. They also went on to talk about how films have an impact on the society as a whole and how the art can be used further more to have a positive influence on the society.
Earlier, Mr Pavitra Manav President NJNP, presented his welcome address during the inaugural session and the official poster for Maghey Mela Cine Ghar was also launched during the programme.
The Chief Guest was also seen interacting with various filmmakers, artists and influencers of Sikkim and the neighbouring state. The film ‘Lipstick Golai’ was also screened during the innaugural ceremony.
