Material distribution and Polling Teams dispatched for Poll day in Namchi District

Namchi, April 18 (IPR): Material distribution and Polling Teams dispatched for conducting Assembly and Parliamentary Constituency Elections on 19th April 2024 in Seven Assembly Constituencies of Namchi District was successfully carried out under the supervision of General Observer Namchi District, Mr Amar Nath Upadhyay, DC/DEO Namchi Mrs Annapurna Alley, along with Returning Officers (RO), today. A total of 850 polling personnel manning 139 polling stations were handed over Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) along with polling materials.
The EVM Strong Room was opened at 8am in the morning, in presence of DC/DEO Namchi, ADC Namchi along with other ROs and the representatives of various political parties.
The dispatching process which began at 8 am in the early morning lasted till 2 pm in the afternoon at the Material Distribution and Collection Centre, established at Namchi Government College Kamrang. Additionally, engineers of Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) were also dispatched to various locations to oversee the proper functioning of voting machines during poll day.
In the morning, Dr Tshewang Gyatso SrSP Namchi gave necessary briefings on the security measures to be taken on the poll day by the police and Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel. Three Companies of the Central Armed Police Force, One company of IRB and over 400 police and Home Guard personnel are being deployed for the poll day, he informed.
Earlier, while interacting with the polling teams, the DC/DEO Namchi instructed them to perform their election duty with utmost sincerity and said that adequate arrangements are put in place to ensure smooth conduct of the electoral process in the district.
DC/DEO Namchi stated that Namchi District has a total of 1,08,662 voters in Seven ACs, where 10 Poklok-Kamrang AC has the highest number of voters with 16,800. She added that Eight Polling Stations are identified as Pink Booths (All Women Polling Stations),15 Women friendly Polling stations and only Model polling station at 10/6 CCCT Chisopani (Room no II) are designated in the district.
She further said that around 93 women are engaged with polling team for the elections. She also added that, Barfung Community Booth of 09 Barfung AC is the highest polling booth voters with 1456 in the district.
