Medical Camp for Children with Disabilities, Children from Care Institutions, and Senior Citizens Held in Namchi

Namchi, March 19 (IPR) – The Women, Child, Senior Citizen, and Divyangjan Welfare (WCSC & DW) Department, in collaboration with Bal Bhawan, Gangtok, organised a comprehensive assessment and identification medical camp for Children with Disabilities, Children from Child Care Institutions (CCIs), and Senior Citizens at the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Institute in Namchi today.
The primary aim of this medical camp was to assess and identify any medical conditions affecting Children with Disabilities, Children in Care Institutions, and Senior Citizens. The event sought to raise awareness about disabilities and the significance of early medical intervention.
A team of expert medical specialists from Namchi District Hospital conducted thorough medical assessments, ensuring a detailed examination of all participants. The specialists included:
1.Dr. Prashant Rasaily (PMR)
2.Dr. Sushila Tamang (ENT Specialist)
3.Dr. Tshering Wangchuk Bhutia (Ophthalmologist)
4.Dr. Deepa Mala Subba (Dermatologist)
5.Dr. Yangtsela Dorjee (Psychiatrist)
6.Dr. Siddhant Sharma (Dental Surgeon)
7.Dr. Allen Smriti Rai (Medical Officer)
8.Dr. Tsephel Eden Bhutia (Psychiatrist)
These specialists conducted various medical examinations in their respective fields, providing a detailed assessment of the participants’ health conditions.
Participants underwent medical examinations to identify any existing health issues. Those who were found to have health concerns were referred to the Namchi District Hospital for further in-depth evaluations and treatment.
A total of 122 participants attended the medical camp. This number included 22 students from Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Institute (Namchi), 83 students from four different Child Care Institutions namely:
1.Turuk Child Care Institute
2.Kapinzal Children Home (Ravangla)
3.Mayal Lyang Children Home (Singithang)
4.Manjusha Open Shelter Home (Namchi)
Including 10 senior citizens and 7 staff members from the Child Care Institutions
The camp also saw the presence of Mr PN Pradhan, Assistant Commissioner, WCSC & DW Department, Gangtok, Ms Sarita Subba, Welfare Inspector, WCSC & DW Department, Officials from both Gangtok and Namchi WCSC & DW Departments, DCPO & DCPU Namchi District, Senior Citizens ,CCI Staff and Students
