Mega EMRS Sports Events Held at EMRS Suntoley on 18th and 19th November 2024

Namchi, 19th November 2024: The Mega Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) Sports Events were successfully organized on the 18th and 19th of November 2024 at EMRS Suntoley witnessing enthusiastic participation and vibrant energy from all attendees.
On the inaugural day, 18th November 2024, the event was graced by Hon’ble MLA of Melli Constituency, Mr N.B. Pradhan, as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished dignitaries included Mr C.V. Basnett, PCE; Mr Suman Gurung, CE and Special Secretary, Social Welfare Department; Hon’ble Panchayats; Joint Director of Sports; Joint Director of Education; CMO of District Hospital Namchi; Welfare Officer, Namchi; Principal of EMRS; CLC President and his team, and several local gentries.
The first day saw fierce yet spirited competitions in athletics, along with table tennis and chess championships, showcasing the talent and
sportsmanship of the EMRS students Simultaneously, a health camp was conducted under the guidance of the CMO and his dedicated team of doctors and staff, offering medical services and awareness sessions to the attendees
The event celebrated the fusion of sports, health, and community spirit, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present. It marked a significant step in encouraging holistic development and well-being among students.
On the second day, Hon’ble MLA cum Advisor, Social Welfare Department, Mrs. Pamin Lepcha graced the event as the Chief Guest, and Mrs. Sarika Pradhan, Secretary, Social Welfare Department, as the Special Guest. Other esteemed dignitaries Other esteemed dignitaries included Mr C.V. Basnett, PCE; Ms. Anupa Tamling, District Collector, Namchi; Mr Suman Gurung, Special Secretary; Mr Satyen Pradhan, Chief Engineer; Mrs. Bandana Chettri, AddI. Secretary; Chief Accounts Officer, SWD Gangtok; and Welfare Officers from Namchi, Mangan, and Pakyong Principals of EMRS Suntoley, Sayem Parakha, and Gangyep, along with SWD inspectors from Namchi.
The second day commenced with a yoga session, followed by thrilling football matches among boys and girls from various EMRS schools. The finalists will represent the state in upcoming competitions in December. The event also featured an Aatmanirbhar stall set up by EMRS students, where the Chief Guest and dignitaries encouraged the young innovators. Visitors explored the “Dharti Aaba” IEC activities, participated in the selfie campaign, and visited the health camp led by the CMO and his 3
team.
Local vendor Mr Robin Basnett took charge of managing the entire food arrangement for students and invited guests, ensuring a seamless experience and high-quality service throughout the event.
In her address, the Chief Guest, Mrs. Pamin Lepcha, inspired the students to excel in sports and academics while expressing gratitude to the organizers for inviting her. She also presented medals to the winners, commending their dedication and achievements.
Vote of thanks was proposed by principal EMRS suntoley Mr. AK Jana and Mrs. Satika Pradhan Secretary SWD officially declared EMRS sports events 2024 closed.
The Mega EMRS Sports Events were organized under the expert guidance of Joint Secretary Mr Prem Kamal Rai and his team, including OS WI Mr Mingma Lepcha, and staff from the SWD head office, Gangtok. The event’s success highlighted the collective efforts of students, organizers, and the community, making it a memorable celebration of sports, health, and cultural unity.
