Mini Braille Press installed at Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Institute (JNMI)

Namchi, 13th Jan : Installation of the Mini Braille Press was done today at Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Institute (JNMI).
Three machines were installed namely High Speed Braille embosser, Tactile Maker and Lex Air (Scanner Machine for Visually Impaired)
Demonstration for the machines were done in the presence of the District Collector/Namchi, Deputy Director/Namchi (Women and Child Development Department), Assistant Commissioner/Disability (Women and Child Development Department) with team from Head Office Gangtok (W&CDD) and Principal and Special Educators of JNMI (Namchi).
Resource person from Shillong, Mr. Shyam Pradhan (Manager Braille Press, JotiSrod School, Bethany Shillong) explained and demonstrated all the features of the Machines. He also interacted with the District Collector and the Team to clear all the doubts regarding Braille Press Machine and Tactile Maker. These machines are an asset to the school and shall be an important factor in production of Braille Books and Tactile Diagrams to further help in educating the Visually impaired population of the state.
The District Collector and the team also inspected the surrounding areas and campus of the school giving valuable inputs and advice for repair works to be done in the Girls Hostel, Boys Hostel, Dining area, and other locations of the Institute.
